Working title: Filipino Culture Night for the Amateur Coordinator
Report Author: Jennifer Amos
Date: May 11, 2010
Subjects
Three people were involved – my sister, a past FCN scriptwriter and the upcoming FCN coordinator.
Think Aloud task
All the participants were asked to look through the whole website, locate information and answer the following questions:
After asking them these questions, I also asked everyone to review the site for navigation, ease of use, color scheme, logical positioning of information, and for any other reaction or comment they had.
Summary of Think Aloud
All the participants were able to find the FCN Coordinator definition under the “About” section. One of them was asking themselves where they would find the definition, but easily guessed that it was under “About.” The participants liked the last-minute tips that some of them said that they would’ve never thought of those tips themselves. When asked what they learned about the FCN coordinator, they were all able to give a general definition. They mainly said that an FCN coordinator is one who overlooks all aspects of FCN, but especially manages the well-being of each person involved. One of the participants liked how the website made it important that the FCN coordinator tries to unite its participants. All the participants said that this website is definitely something worth handing down for generations to come. They said that it will make things very easy for each future coordinator.
They all generally thought that navigating through the website was fairly easy and self-explanatory. They liked how all the steps were numbered. One of them liked the filmstrip as the background image. All the participants liked the overall look of the website. One of them liked that the content is within a thin-rectangular box – almost as if you’re reading a newspaper column or literally a checklist.
Summary of Posttest
Most of them liked how it was easy to navigate through. But one of them complained that there was a lot to read. In addition, they are worried that a coordinator might get tired of the website because there is so much content. One of them was confused over all the links on the right column and suggested that I condense them. Someone else said that I should add more visuals but appreciated that I tried adding visuals. Two of them asked if anyone else was going to help me fix the website and I told them that I was going to hand down the website for future coordinators to improve on.
Findings to be implemented
Findings that will not be implemented
Just like my alpha test, I won't take the long list on the right column out because I want to display all the things that a coordinator needs to get done. I will break down the links into sections so it doesn’t look like too much. Overall, this site is supposed to be an online reference book for the FCN coordinator. It's not something that he or she has to read all at once, but something that he or she should refer too several times during his or her term.
As I have more time, I will add more visuals and try condensing my writing. But for the most part, I think the content is valuable and is fine the way it is.
